BASW Curriculum & Road Map

The BASW program has a generalist practice curriculum that prepares students to enter many fields of practice serving multiple sizes of systems, including individuals, families, groups, communities, and the broader society. The Junior year curriculum consists of courses in gender, social differences, human behavior and the social environment, policy, and practice courses. The Senior year curriculum includes practice courses, research, and field education. 

BASW Course Requirements

Prerequisites for entering the Social Work program:

  • Introductory Psychology (PSY 200 or equivalent)
  • Introductory Sociology (SOC 105 or equivalent)
  • Human Biology (BIO 100 or equivalent - lab not required for SW program)
  • Macroeconomics (ECON 102, ECON 305 or equivalent).
  • English 214 (or equivalent)

 The first four courses listed above also satisfy the complimentary studies requirement of the general education requirement.
