SSW Co-Hosts Postpartum Mental Health Event
From the CHSS College Connection:
"On October 24 and 25, SF State alumna Shoshana Bennett revisited her alma mater as a special guest speaker for two talking events held at SF State’s Downtown Campus and on the main campus. Bennett helped pioneer the field of maternal mental health in the U.S. She founded and led national and international organizations and is an author of four books on the subject. Her interdisciplinary talk focused on the recognition and prevention of postpartum depression, distinguishing the education and efforts necessary to prevent and treat its symptoms. The two events were made possible by the collaboration of the Department of Counseling, School of Social Work and School of Nursing. Together the two talks had an audience of more than 100 people, including current students and faculty, and alumni from the three departments."
