Biography

Relonda McGhee has been rooted in the field of social work since earning her Master of Social Work from San Francisco State University in 2009. She later completed her Pupil Personnel Services Credential (PPSC) at University of California, Berkeley in 2016. Her work is grounded in trauma-informed practice and shaped by years of navigating complex urban school systems with both clinical precision and a deep respect for community knowledge.

In 2024, Relonda returned to San Francisco State University as an MSW Seminar Lecturer. Alongside Seminar, she has taught Social Work History, bringing the evolution of the profession into conversation with present-day practice. Her teaching is intentional and practice-centered, bridging the realities of frontline fieldwork with academic theory. She also specializes in the Pupil Personnel Services Credential (PPSC), supporting students as they translate classroom learning into effective, ethical work in school-based and community settings.

Relonda’s approach is both systemic and restorative. She challenges students to think critically about power, policy, and institutions, while also centering wellness, reflection, and sustainability in their professional identity. Her commitment is to prepare social workers who can move skillfully within systems without losing their grounding in humanity, justice, and care.
