Biography

Sebastian Melo, LCSW. He was born in Medellín, Colombia. He’s fluent in Spanish and has a master’s degree in social work from San Francisco State University. For over 10 years, he worked as a medical social worker for the San Francisco Department of Public Health and was involved in group facilitation for the DPH Integrated Pain Management Program- UCSF Osher Center. He was also a volunteer for Peace Brigades International in 2013, working as a human rights observer in Chihuahua and Coahuila, Mexico. In addition to his work, Mr. Melo has been a lecturer at SFSU School of Social Work and a volunteer faculty member/mentorship with the Coalition for Clinical Social Work in San Francisco.

Areas of interest: international social work, psychodynamic psychotherapy, recovery model, group work, intersectionality, human rights & immigration, clinical social work, psychopathology, behavioral health and primary care.
